I Walked

Something I wrote after a walk with my youngest sister Bridget a while ago when I was feeling especially sentimental, and a picture of her at Sherwood Island:

I walked with the girl who was a ray of sunshine in the rain

We locked hands as I commented on the trees
And she shared how she imagined God to be
And for those fifteen minutes, we were both free of pain
Then the clouds decided they were finished
Full to burst, they broke free
Raindrops plummeted one by one, soon splattering us
And so we bounded homeward, the ray of sunshine clutched in my arm, both of us still perfectly sane.
