Those Days

Everyone has those days. Those days we are restless. Relentlessly searching for something, we don't quite know what. Those days we feel dry, empty, anxious, unsure. But we need only look to God. We need only go to a Church. Attend Adoration. Sit and soak in His presence. Breathe. Relax. "Lose yourself upon the cross," said St. Catherine of Siena, "and you will find yourself entirely." This poem is for those days. While its tune is light-hearted, I truly believe everything I say in it.

Those Days

In those days I’m feeling awfully blue
There are very few things that will do
Kind words, chocolate, and books are all nice
But there are few things that will hit the spot precise
I need Adoration, Source of Solicitude
I need the Eucharist, Worthy of All Gratitude
I need the Provider of Peace, my Lord
I need the people of the Church all in one accord
These things will remedy any bad day in a heartbeat
And soothe any craving heart searching for a treat
